Wedding ceremony on the anniversary of the world's first civil partnership

35 years ago, on 1 October 2024, the world’s first same-sex civil union was entered at Copenhagen City Hall.

To mark this occasion, the Banquet Hall will be decorated in the colours of the rainbow, and you can say ’I do’ at a beautiful and festive ceremony in grand surroundings.

Please note that it is only possible to bring up to 40 guests, including children, photographer etc.

How to book a wedding appointment

To book an appointment, you must first apply for a certificate of marital status. When your application has been approved, you will receive a link to the booking system. Here, you can choose between the available times at the open-air weddings yourself.

Shortly after you have booked your appointment, you will receive a booking confirmation with further details about the day.
