Open-air wedding

Open-air wedding
Say “I do” at a lovely and memorable open-air ceremony in one of the capital’s iconic and spectacular locations.
The ceremony
At an open-air wedding, the ceremony is the same as at City Hall - just under the open skies or in new, different surroundings.
The ceremony will start by the registrar making a short speech for you. Then you will be asked if you accept one another as spouses. After you have confirmed this, you may exchange rings if you wish. When you have signed the marriage documents, you will be handed your marriage certificates and the ceremony is over.
Your guests are welcome to take photos and record videos during the ceremony. You can also choose to invite guest to join on your phones on Facetime, Skype etc.

When should we arrive at the location?
Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your booked wedding appointment.
In which languages can the ceremony be held?
The ceremony can be held in Danish, English or German. You can pick a language when you book your wedding appointment.
It is mandatory that you both understand what is being said during the ceremony. If one of you do not understand either Danish, English or German, it is important that you hire an interpreter.
Do we need to bring our own witnesses?
You are welcome to bring your own witnesses, but it is not mandatory. The City of Copenhagen will always provide two official witnesses.
If you wish for your guests to be the witnesses who sign the marriage papers, simply let the registrar know before the ceremony.
The marriage certificate
Immediately after the ceremony, you will be handed a multi-lingual, international version of your marriage certificate in Danish, English, French, German and Spanish. If you need more copies, you are welcome to contact the Wedding Office.
