Book a private registrar
Closed for further bookings in August, September and October 2026
The possibility of booking a private registrar is popular, and August, September and October are fully booked. Currently, you can request to book a private registrar for a wedding taking place in November 2026 at the earliest.
In The Municipality of Copenhagen, a private registrar can conduct your wedding ceremony at a location and time of your choosing.
This could be in your garden, your home, a park, a boat, a restaurant or the place where you met for the first time. The location must be within the limits of the Municipality of Copenhagen and cannot be Copenhagen City Hall or the City Hall Garden.
As part of the ceremony, the registrar will deliver a personal speech based on your own contributions and input.
You are responsible for arranging two witnesses who must be present during the ceremony.
How to book a private registrar
Write an e-mail to the Wedding Office at wedding@kk.dk with the following information:
- Where you would like the ceremony to take place (address within the Municipality of Copenhagen)
- Your preferred wedding date
- The preferred time of day (please indicate if you are flexible regarding the time)
- Your full names
- If your certificate of marital status/prøvelsesattest was not issued by the Municipality of Copenhagen: Your case number/sagsnummer.
The earliest you can request a private registrar is four months before the desired date.
The wedding date must be minimum one month into the future. (If you send an e-mail on 5 January, the requested wedding date must be 5 February at the earliest.)
Your notice of marriage/ægteskabserklæring must be approved before you submit your request.
The fee for booking a private registrar is DKK 2,732. You will receive the payment instructions once you receive the final booking confirmation.
